Warning Lights
The headlines are horrible this morning and I find myself skimming, looking for glimpses of good news, but it’s hard to find much. Anxiety, anger and accusations are escalating. Politics and the pandemic, all playing their parts, fuels the fervor.
They are all warning lights signaling something is not right.
Yesterday, while I was driving, a warning light appeared on my dashboard: low tire pressure. I knew I had a slow leak, but the warning light prompted me to change my priorities for the day and head straight to discount tire.
I think we all know the world isn’t right, but sometimes, the warning lights just aren’t glaring in our face. Today, there is no ignoring them. They are flashing Injustice. Self-serving politicians, poverty and the pandemic are all warning lights of the obvious. Something is deeply wrong with this world.
There is only one Savior and solution to the problem. As Christians, we are meant to reflect His heart and be part of the healing, helping people upward. We can live out our new identity as children of God, only with His grace, to turn the other cheek and love our neighbors as ourselves. That’s not a natural response, it’s a new life in Christ reaction. It’s our chance to shine a light in this world, reflecting God’s face and His grace.
